Clancy are delighted to announce that they have commenced works at St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, the project will be one of the largest conservation projects undertaken in Ireland at €9 million, works to this listed national monument & protected structure will include restoration of the high-level roofs, refurbishment of clerestory windows, parapet capping & stone works, cleaning of turrets and pinnacles.
The cathedral is almost as old as Notre Dame, being founded in 1191 to Notre Dames’s 1163.The last major restoration works carried out at the cathedral was in 1860 and was fully funded by Benjamin Lee Guinness which took 5 years to complete at a cost the equivalent of €30 million today.
As one of Ireland’s busiest Cathedrals the building serves not only as a place of worship but as a visitor attraction, receiving approximately 600k visitors from all over the world annually, the full richness of Cathedral life will remain uninterrupted during the course of the work and people are encouraged to visit and experience for themselves this truly magnificent building.
