Sunview Development, Douglas Road, Cork

Sunview development on the South Douglas Road, Cork is a 25-unit sheltered ‘rightsize’ housing development built by Clancy Construction in partnership with Lyonshall Ltd for Cork City Council. A mix of one and two-bedroom homes, the development is largely aimed at over 60s considering downsizing from larger homes. The Design team on the project were Reddy Architecture, Horgan Lynch Civil & Structural Engineers, DKP Partnership M&E Engineers and Sextons Waterford Fire Consultants.

By downsizing to Sunview, this frees up larger council and privately- owned homes to families on the housing waiting list. The scheme was open to private home-owners, where the council can acquire their former homes subject to eligibility criteria. The community scheme is managed by the approved housing body with the aim to provide a sustainable housing solution for older persons living in both social and private housing which is no longer suitable due to layout, size, location or physical condition. Sunview provides  ‘right size’ and age friendly accommodation consisting of 8 apartment and 17 bungalows.
