Clancy Delivers Future-Proof Home for Aoibhínn O’Hanlon and Family on DIY SOS Ireland

Clancy Construction had the immense honour of completing a life-changing home transformation for Aoibhínn O’Hanlon and her family in Mooncoin, Co. Kilkenny. The project was part of the upcoming new season of DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland, the heart-warming RTÉ series that brings communities together to support families in need.

Selected as the main contractor for this emotional and inspiring build, our team was proud to contribute both professionally and personally to this incredible initiative. We volunteered our time, skills, and resources to help create a safe, fully accessible, and future-proof home tailored specifically to Aoibhínn’s needs.

A True Community Effort

From the very beginning, this project embodied the spirit of collaboration and compassion. Over the course of a demanding and rewarding build, we worked alongside:

  • A dedicated group of skilled volunteers
  • Expert sub-contractors who gave their time and talent
  • Generous suppliers who donated materials and resources
  • The passionate and professional production team at Indiepics
  • And of course, Baz Ashmawy, the charismatic and ever-inspiring presenter of DIY SOS Ireland

Together, this incredible collective brought vision, energy, and heart to every stage of the process.

More Than Just a Build – A Labour of Love

At Clancy, we’re proud of every project we deliver – but this one was different. It wasn’t just about bricks and mortar. It was about giving a family peace of mind, independence, and a place where they can thrive for years to come.

Our team worked around the clock to ensure the home was delivered to the highest possible standard – on time, within the tight filming schedule, and always with safety as a top priority. Every detail of the home was thoughtfully considered and expertly executed, ensuring it meets Aoibhínn’s current needs and supports her family’s future.

Standing Ovation for a Standout Team

This build would not have been possible without the exceptional commitment of our Clancy team. In particular, we’d like to recognise:

  • Cormac Smith
  • Ross Derham
  • Garret Nestor
  • Brian Tobin
  • And John Hayes, who brought his distinguished career to a fitting close with this, his final and most memorable project.

Their dedication, professionalism, and passion shone through at every stage – and we couldn’t be prouder.

Looking Ahead

This project represents everything we stand for at Clancy: building with purpose, with people at the heart of every decision. We were privileged to play a part in this transformative journey for the O’Hanlon family, and we look forward to sharing their powerful story with the nation when the episode airs later this year.

From all of us at Clancy, we wish Aoibhínn and her family happiness, health, and countless special moments in their new home.
