We have an extensive portfolio of projects from all sectors including Residential, Student Accommodation, Commercial, Healthcare, Conservation, Restoration, Education and Hospitality. Our work in these sectors has been an integral part of our growth and have always aligned with our six core values – Safety, Professionalism, Collaboration/Teamwork, Quality, Commitment/Loyalty and Sustainability.

At Clancy, we are committed to delivering our projects safely, sustainably, and to the highest standards of quality. This commitment is underpinned by our Integrated Management System (IMS), which provides a structured framework for managing and continually improving our business performance.
Our IMS is certified to internationally recognised standards including ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management), and is supported by Safe-T-Cert certification. These certifications demonstrate our commitment to best practice, legal compliance, risk management, and continual improvement across all aspects of our operations.
The IMS integrates the management of health and safety, quality, environmental performance, energy management, waste management, information technology, cybersecurity, and data governance into a single cohesive system. Meet Our Team
Clancy Construction is managed and led by a number of key individuals who share a vast amount of knowledge and expertise. They have a deep passion for quality in construction, ensuring their clients receive the best possible service at a competitive price. They manage a construction team of over 150 staff as well as oversee a wide range of active, and sometimes complex, projects on a daily basis.
John O’Shaughnessy
Managing Director

John O’Shaughnessy is Managing Director of Clancy Construction and has more than three decades of experience in the construction industry. Since joining the company in 1992, he has played a key role in the delivery of projects across multiple sectors, including education, healthcare, hospitality, residential, and restoration and conservation.
John’s career with Clancy has progressed through a range of site-based, operational and senior leadership roles, including site technician, site manager and contracts manager. He was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2003, became Deputy Managing Director in 2007 and was appointed Managing Director in 2013.
In addition to his role at Clancy, John is actively involved in the wider construction and business community. He is Current President of County Tipperary Chamber of Commerce and Vice President of the Construction Industry Federation. He is also a past Chairman of the CIF South East Branch, past President of the Master Builders’ and Contractors’ Association, and former Chair of the CIF Education and Training Committee. John was appointed to the CIRI Board by the Minister for Housing in 2023 and is a member of the National Skills Council of Ireland.
Declan Fitzpatrick

Declan joined Clancy in 2007 as a Contracts Manager and was appointed to the board of Directors as Construction & EHSQ Director in 2013. Declan has worked in the construction industry for over 25 years, starting his career working on large civil engineering projects, and following this, worked on numerous projects within the education, retail, commercial, residential and health care sectors.
Declan is a Chartered Construction Manager with qualifications in both Civil Engineering and Construction Management, and holds an MBA from the University of Limerick.
Chris Chambers
Dublin Regional Director

Chris has worked in the construction industry for over 25 years, receiving qualifications in both Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering and a Bachelor of Mathematics from Trinity College. Chris is also a Chartered Construction Manager with the CIOB and has received a Master’s in Business Studies from UCC.
Chris started his career working on large residential projects, and following this, he has worked on numerous projects within the education, retail, commercial, residential and healthcare sectors. Chris joined Clancy in 2008 as a Contracts Manager and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2013 as a Construction Director. He is also currently vice-president of the Master Builders and Contractors Association, sits on the National Executive Committee of the Construction Industry Federation and previously chaired the Construction 4.0 subcommittee of the CIF.
John Corcoran
Financial Director
B COMM, DPA, FCA
John joined Clancy as Chief Financial Officer in 2007 and was appointed to the Board of Directors as Finance Director in 2013. He is responsible for the management of the entire finance function including accounting, treasury, financial planning, budgeting and financial reporting. He worked previously as an Audit Partner with Oliver Freaney and Company specialising in managing and advising clients in the construction, retail, manufacturing and property sectors.
Alan Darmody
Executive Commercial Director

Alan joined Clancy in 2008 as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, in more recent years Alan has held the positions of Managing Quantity Surveyor and Associate Director before being appointed to the Board of Directors in January 2021 as Executive Commercial Director. With this role he has responsibility for the quantity surveying, estimating, purchasing and business development portfolios.
Alan has over 20 years experience in the Irish construction industry having worked across a multitude of sectors including healthcare, residential, commercial, hospitality, pharmaceutical, education and restoration.
Alan received his degree from Cork Institute of Technology before gaining membership of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2013.
Cormac Smith
Construction Director
BEng, PMP, MIEI, DiplS
Cormac joined Clancy in 2023 and brings over 25 years’ experience in the
construction industry, with a strong track record of leading and delivering
complex Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Commercial, and Educational projects.
He has a BEng in Engineering, a certified Project Management Professional and member of the Project Management Institute, he is recognised for his strategic approach to project delivery and team leadership.
Cormac has held a number of senior industry leadership roles in the CIF, including President of the Master Builders and Contractors Association and Chairman of the Cork Branch. He also sits on a number of key industry steering groups, including
the PTCM.
