In 2016, Clancy were chosen as one of four Main Contracting Companies in the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) to participate in their new scheme to hire more trainee workers. The scheme “Shared Apprentice Scheme” was launched to allow the member companies to share the apprentices so that they would have constant training experience and employment.
Prior to the scheme, the construction companies were worried about hiring apprentices as the work may run out.
Our Managing Director, John O’Shaughnessy showed his concern by saying “Despite a fear to hire apprentices in the past in case work ran out, the scheme proved this not to be the case.”
None of the four companies that participated have had to share their new apprentices since the scheme began and now CIF are looking to make it national.
